The principle of operation of jaw crushers is based on crushing of material by its working surfaces, the so-called jaws. At the point of contact, there is an increased compression and partially shear force, which leads to the crushing of the material. During operation, one jaw is fixed in place while the other is mounted on a shaft and driven by a reciprocating mechanism, which causes it to swing. In the working process, only the jaws are involved: the side walls of the crushing chamber serve only as a limiter. The connecting rod drive is connected to the motor through a V-belt drive. On the other end of the shaft there is a flywheel which also serves as a counterweight to the pulley. The operator can adjust the position of the bottom edge of the moving jaw horizontally by means of a mechanical drive. As a result, the desired size of the outlet jaw and the size of the finished product is set.
